Sorry for the shouting subject line...but I am so glad SPRING is finally here...the robins 3-6 dozen at a time!) have been swarming our property for the past 2 wks - snow finally melted this weekend.
Good reference is the key. The better your references, the better your paintings/drawings will be. It helps to understand your subject matter. Anatomy is also very important. If you understand anatomy, be it animal or homo sapiens the more realistic your work will be.
Practice is also key. Practice as much as time allows you to. Practice, practice, practice. This site is a great resource for excellent references for pretty much any subject. Also there are plenty of other sites on the web (google is your friend) that has great references. [link] Stock.xchng is an awesome place to find photos.
Thank you *blush* I might ask questions at some point regarding realism as your rodents come out so well. I'm working on rats as well as canines at the moment and I'd love to get the realism you do. I'm finding good references seem to be key.
Don't worry about it. I am sure you will get there some day...probably sooner than I ever did!
All it takes it practice and finding the time to hone your skills. Feel free to ask me anything you have questions on. I am a fountain of knowledge! Some say useless but I laugh at them when they come to me and ask me a question...then I answer it. With a smirk on my face - shaking my head saying...not so useless knowledge now is it! hehe
I had totally forgotten to friend you back a year or so ago, heh, and when your image came up among my favorites I had to relook at your gallery to see if there was anything new ^__^ All of your work is so detailed, I really admire it. I hope I am able to be as good with my digital-painting skills some day!
